Action Against Dokmoka Police Officer Sought

DIPHU, Sept 27: Karbi Students Association (KSA) of Inglongpho faction has demanded that the police officer of Dokmoka Police Station, Nilumoni Malakar should be suspended from his service for allegedly torturing a woman Mariom Rongpipi inside the police station.

In a press conference, the general secretary, KSA, Budho Terang said from August 30 last Moneswar Kalita, a teacher of Rong Ar-e LP school has been missing and is still traceless. The police of Dokmoka Police Station have put the accusation on another teacher of the same school Kania Tokbi and his wife Mariam Rongpipi, who is a cook in the mid-meal of the school.

“The police officer of Domoka Police Station, Nilumoni Malakar has physically tortured Moriam and another woman inside the police station. Moriam’s husband Kania Tokbi also was beaten up by the police. How can a policeman, without the presence of women police can torture to women,” Terang questioned. He also said that Mariom is in serious condition and is being treated in a hospital.

“We condemn the cruelty and highhandedness of the police officer and demand that he should be suspended from his service,” Terang said.

Terang also sought that the KSA will extend full cooperation in finding the missing teacher. It is the failure of law and order in not being able to trace out the missing teacher till now, the KSA general secretary said.
