Additional Chief Secretary Dr Ashish Kumar Bhutani,  Visits Agricultural Fields In Sonitpur

TEZPUR, April 4: Dr Ashish Kumar Bhutani, additional chief secretary and agriculture production commissioner, visited the agricultural fields of Majia Farmers Producer Company (FPC) at Pakshiajhar village under Bindukuri Agricultural Circle in Sonitpur on Monday which consists of 310 farmers including 130 women farmers.

It is worth mentioning that in the last year the FPC earned Rs 23.60 lakh by producing paddy seeds on 200 bighas of land and expects to earn Rs 40 lakh this year from producing paddy seeds on 2000 bighas of land. In addition to it, the company has earned lakhs of rupees from the cultivation of paddy, potatoes, mustard etc.

Bhutani interacted with the farmers and observed the overall aspects of the FPC. During interaction with the farmers he advised them to cultivate different crops according to the seasons on the same land urged to engage themselves in agricultural activities with the help of tractors, combine harvesters, mini combine harvesters, rotavators, seed and fertilizer applicators, briquetting machines etc. provided to the FPC through various schemes of the government agriculture department.

The additional chief secretary also interacted with the farmers present regarding the Pradhan Mantri Krishak Sanman Nidhi or PM Kisan Scheme and assured that the agriculture department will provide necessary assistance to the FPC during the days ahead. He also discussed various schemes of the department with the officers present and took overall stock of the different schemes of the agricultural department.

During the period of visit to the FPC he was accompanied by the chief executive officer of Sonitpur Zila Parishad Karabi Saikia Karan, joint director of agriculture (North Zone) Pabitra Sarma, district agriculture officer Pankaj Saikia, district assistant commissioner, officers and employees of agriculture department.
