Guwahati, 16 Oct: All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Guwahati inaugurated its Clinical Trial Unit (CTU) on Wednesday, aiming to strengthen clinical research in the North East. The unit is designed to support high-quality, ethical, and patient-centred studies, providing infrastructure and expertise for both investigator-initiated and sponsor-led trials.
Prof Dr Ashok Puranik, Executive Director of AIIMS Guwahati, said the CTU will translate scientific research into improved health outcomes. He highlighted that the unit will enhance patient access to advanced therapies, address regional and national health priorities, and foster the development of research talent across the region.
The CTU is expected to promote collaborations with national networks and international partners, positioning AIIMS Guwahati as a hub for healthcare innovation in the North East. Through these partnerships, the institute aims to focus on diseases of regional significance and strengthen public health interventions across the country.
