Margherita, June 4: All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) state secretary Ranjan Choudhary, regarding the recent disastrous triple train crash in Balasore, Odisha which has left nearly 300 casualties and more than 900 injured, questioned, “Will the government take moral responsibility for the tragic rail accident?” He also demanded rollback of the privatisation policy of Indian Railways.
“AITUC is of the firm opinion that central government has been neglecting the basic infrastructure of Railways, such as the required manpower, maintenance of assets, railway tracks, signaling system while flagging off Vande Bharat trains for their own propaganda and for this they have created a high-end railway system while making it precarious for the common people – a formula to denigrate government owned services and then to privatise them,” said Ranjan Choudhary.
“The BSNL and MTNL are notorious examples of this. The hidden agenda is to privatise the Indian Railways and the Odisha accident is a direct consequence of this policy,” said Ranjan Choudhary, secretary of AITUC state committee.
Choudhary added that AITUC demands an adequate compensation to the dependents of the deceased and a rollback of the privatisation policy.
