Akhilesh Singh takes charge at NTPC Bongaigaon Salakati

New leadership brings over 30 years of experience to the flagship power station

KOKRAJHAR, May 29: Akhilesh Singh has taken charge as the project head of NTPC Bongaigaon, Salakati, the 750 MW flagship power station of NTPC located in Kokrajhar district, effective from May 27, 2024. Prior to his appointment at NTPC Bongaigaon, Salakati, Singh served as the head of project at NTPC Lara, Chhattisgarh, overseeing a generating capacity of 1600 MW. Singh succeeds KC Muraleedharan, who has been transferred to NTPC Dadri as the head of Project.

Akhilesh Singh began his journey with NTPC as an executive trainee (ET) in 1993 after obtaining a degree in electrical engineering from Bhagalpur University. With over 30 years of experience, Singh has garnered rich exposure to working in NTPC’s largest power stations at Rihand and Vindhyachal, where he played a crucial role in ensuring operational efficiency and excellence.

Throughout his career, Singh has made significant contributions to achieving greater heights in the O&M (Operations & Maintenance) performance of various NTPC stations. He previously served in various capacities at NTPC Lara, including as general manager (Fuel Management) and later as GM (O&M) and head of the project of the 1600 MW NTPC Lara Super Thermal Power Station.

Singh has undergone extensive training in various domains, including safety, power plant efficiency, preventive vigilance, coal coordination, O&M practices, human resources, first aid and CPR certification, advanced leadership programs, and commercial aspects specific to NTPC. His commitment to continuous learning and development reflects his dedication to excellence in the power sector.

In his new role, Singh will oversee all activities at NTPC Bongaigaon, which boasts a generating capacity of 750 MW (3×250 MW). Under his leadership, NTPC Bongaigaon Salakati aims to strengthen its position as a key player in the power generation landscape, while prioritising safety, efficiency, and sustainability, and remaining committed to the well-being of nearby communities.
