KOKRAJHAR, Aug 7: The All Koch Rajbongshi Students Union (AKRSU) has released its general secretary Gokul Barman from his post, who is now holding the post of chief executive member of Kamatapur Autonomous Council (KAC).
Addressing reporters at a press conference held at Kokrajhar Press Club on Saturday, AKRSU president Arun Kumar Roy said the students union has released its general secretary Gokul Barman, who is now holding the post of chief executive member of Kamatapur Autonomous Council (KAC).

He said that the union has appointed Keshav Roy as the new general secretary of AKRSU.
He has clarified that the AKRSU is a non-political organisation, so it will keep maintaining its social integration through the students union.
He informed that the central committee of the students union had released Gokul Barman from his post on July 22 last to lead a healthy AKRSU organisation.
He said that the Koch Rajbongshi community wants a healthy environment and integration within the organisation besides keeping the organisation free from political influence, so the AKRSU central leadership have released Barman and appointed Keshav Roy as new general secretary of the students union.
“AKRSU has no interest in mixing up its non-political nature with politics,” Roy said.
He said that the movement for demanding of ST status to the Koch Rajbongshi community and reconstruction of Kamatapur separate state will be carried out.
“The ST status to the Koch Rajbongshi community must be granted and reconstruction of Kamatapur separate state should be solved through political dialogue which the Koch Rajbongshi students union and social organisations have been demanding for so long. The government must initiate with a positive attitude while solving the issues and demands,” Roy said.
He informed that a special session of the AKRSU would be organised within a few days to form the full-fledged committee of the AKRSU central committee and was hopeful that the Koch Rajbongshi community will go a long way in fighting for their demands under a new and young leadership.
