Annual music festival ‘Pulakit Tapoban’ held

NAGAON, Nov 11: The 24th edition of the annual music festival “Pulakit Tapoban,” organised by Sur Sadhana, was recently held at Nagaon Natya Mandir auditorium. The festival is a key event in the district’s music calendar.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including renowned tabla player Raja Baruah and Nagaon University Vice-Chancellor Hitesh Deka. The festival paid tribute to legendary singer Zubeen Garg, with students of Sur Sadhana and other young artists performing his popular songs.

The programme featured soulful renditions of classical and folk music, highlighting Assam’s rich musical heritage. Chief guest Raja Baruah and other dignitaries praised Sur Sadhana’s efforts in promoting music education and fostering talent among the youth, while Vice-Chancellor Hitesh Deka commended the organisation’s role in encouraging cultural exchange.

Notable performances were delivered by Ariful Haque, Deepak Sarma and Krishna Dulaal Baruah, among others. The event was chaired by Professor Nava Kr Mahanta and concluded with a vote of thanks by Sur Sadhana president Suwagmoni Mahanta, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, patrons and students for their support.
