NAGAON, Dec 3: Sur Sadhana, a cultural organisation dedicated to promoting music, has completed 22 years here.
Over the past 22 years, Sur Sadhana has celebrated its annual cultural programme, featuring students of Sur Sadhana Music College performing various songs, including classical music, folk songs, and compositions by noted Assamese artistes like Dr Bhupen Hazarika.
This year’s programme was special as it was dedicated to the memory of the late musician Digen Mahanta. The event featured various songs performed by the students. The chief guest, noted music director Anupam Choudhury, emphasised the importance of formal music education in his speech. He also mesmerised the audience with his music.
The programme was attended by several distinguished guests, including artistes like Ariful Haque, Krishna Dulal Baruah, and Anup Baruah. The event was inaugurated by Nava Kumar Mahanta, while Parismita Deka, a talented young artiste, mentored the entire programme. Suwag Moni Mahanta, the head of the musical institution, briefed the audience on the achievements of Sur Sadhana over the past 22 years and welcomed the guests and other attendees.
Sur Sadhana’s efforts have led to the emergence of many talented musicians in the state. Several students of Sur Sadhana have gone on to become accomplished musicians, earning recognition in various colleges and universities across the state. The programme was attended by a large number of distinguished guests, who appreciated Sur Sadhana’s contributions to promoting music.
