Archival Exhibition To Showcase Tezpur Mahila Samiti’s History

TEZPUR, March 14: Indian Association for Women’s Studies in collaboration with Tezpur University and Northeast Lightbox, Tezpur Mahila Samiti will organise a four-day historical and archival exhibition from March 16 to 19 in its own office premises here. The exhibition will be held emphasizing ‘Sisters of Tezpur’ which traces the history of the Tezpur Mahila Samiti, will bring together a collection of Tezpur Mahila Samiti’s  local archive through the decades comprising testimonials, photographs, flyers with other mediums of engagement such as installations, documentary screenings and audio-scapes.

 

It is worth mentioning that with a glorious history that spanned from the 1920s, Tezpur Mahila Samiti played critical roles during the freedom struggle for independence, the Indo China war of the 1960s and continued to take part in extensive community and social work across the fields of education, female employment, handloom and textile at the grassroots from the 1920’s till today. The Mahila Samiti requests cooperation and presence of all concerned in the exhibition. It will be kept open for all from 3pm onwards.
