DIBRUGARH, Oct 24: The Burhi Dihing River, a major tributary of the Brahmaputra river, has been causing floods in several areas of Dang Pathar, Bhurbhuri and other areas under Lahwal constituency.
Heavy erosion has washed away hundreds of acres of agricultural land. There is a strong possibility that the newly constructed dam will be eroded soon as the erosion has taken such a severe form that it has touched the dam in an area of Dang Pathar Kurmigaon. It has become necessary to take measures to prevent floods. The people affected by floods are now spending sleepless nights.
The locals demanded the district commissioner and the administration and Water Resources department authorities to inspect the flood affected areas soon and to take steps to prevent future floods in the areas.
