NAGAON, Sept 7: To conserve and protect birds and maintain ecological balance, the Nagaon district administration, in collaboration with the voluntary organisation Anusandhan Unnayan Samiti, has launched an initiative to install artificial bird nests in the district.
The initiative, aligned with the birth centenary celebrations of Dr Bhupen Hazarika, aims to provide safe habitats for birds to nest, lay eggs, and raise their young.
The project is expected to contribute to the increase in bird population, control pests and insects in agricultural fields, and help maintain ecological balance.
As part of the drive, Nagaon District Commissioner Debashish Sarma inaugurated the initiative and personally installed several artificial bird nests in trees within the premises of his official residence.
The initiative serves as a model for the community to follow and highlights the importance of protecting birds and their habitats.
The district administration appealed to the public to join hands in this endeavour and work towards creating a harmonious relationship with nature.
By installing artificial bird nests, individuals can contribute to bird conservation and promote ecological balance.
The initiative is a commendable effort by the Nagaon district administration and Anusandhan Unnayan Samiti to raise awareness about bird conservation and promote sustainable development.
While addressing the occasion, DC Sarma underscored that every small step counts in the journey towards a more sustainable and environmentally conscious society.
“By working together, we can make a significant difference in the lives of our feathered friends and the ecosystem as a whole,” he added.
