MARGHERITA, April 30: Artificial floods have wreaked havoc in various locations under the 83rd Margherita Constituency of Tinsukia district.
Localities such as Ledo, Ledo Bazaar, Ledo College, Margherita Segunbari, and Bargolai have been severely impacted due to continuous torrential rain.
The situation has disrupted the daily lives of students, company employees, officegoers, businessmen, and traders.
Local residents of Ledo area attribute these artificial floods to an unscientific approach to drain construction, which causes rainwater to remain stagnant on the roads.
Residents claim that neither government officials nor public representatives from the 83 no Margherita constituency have addressed the ongoing issue, leaving the people to struggle with the artificial floods for an extended period.
“We are fed up with this artificial flood especially in Ledo as this part resides in a low-lying land and the water flows down heavily after a few spell of rain. Coal India could have solved the problem but due to their ignorance, we the people are suffering now,” a concerned local said.
The locals have also complanied that due to these artificial floods along with the students, even the office goers have to face the wrath of the artificial calamity.
