NALBARI, Sept 13: The popular artist and freedom fighter Brajanath Sarma’s 63rd memorial day was observed on September 12 at Gamarimuri by Hemjonti Library with the help of 156 no. LP School.
On this occasion artist Ghanakanta Barman lit the lamp near the statue of Brajanath Sarma and paid floral tribute and garland to the statue. Under the presidentship of writer ex-principal Bhubaneswar Deka, artist pensioner, Umes Datta awardee teacher Dipak Kr. Sarma and educationist Balen Goswami delivered their speech about the contribution of Brajanath Sarma in the field of theatrical drama. He was the pioneer of theatrical performance in mobile theatre in Assam. The orator explained how Brajanath Sarma joined in struggle of the independence of India.
Head master Rajen Baishya explained the objectives of memorial day. Two important books ‘Godhulir Sadhu’ and ‘Gamarimuri Atit Aru Bartaman’ written by ex-president of Nalbari District Sahitya Sabha, Khagen Deka were inaugurated by Ganesh Barman and Rajib Datta respectively.
