Guwahati, April 12: The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Assam has issued a show cause notice to the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang, following allegations of violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).
The allegations were made by a person named Longkiti Timung, from Karbi Anglong’s Diphu, who claimed that Ronghang violated several clauses of the MCC during election campaign speeches across eight locations.
Timung also accused Ronghang of making a mockery of the Election Commission of India (ECI) and sought stringent action against him.
In response to these allegations, the Assam CEO’s office has demanded a response from the KAAC CEM before 5 pm of April 13, failing which necessary action will be taken against Ronghang.
