Guwahati, 30 Oct: Guwahati is preparing for the launch of two river-linked projects on November 7 — the Guwahati Gateway Terminal and the newly developed riverfront — as part of the city’s ongoing urban transformation drive.
The inauguration will be led by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, during her visit to Assam. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the date, calling it a move to bring modern transport and public infrastructure closer to citizens.
The Gateway Terminal will expand inland waterway access, reducing pressure on road networks, while the riverfront project will open public zones along the Brahmaputra for leisure and tourism. Both aim to reshape Guwahati’s relationship with its river.
