Assam CM briefs President on Assam’s development roadmap

GUWAHATI/ NEW DELHI, June 3: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday called on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan and briefed her on Assam’s ongoing development initiatives, economic growth trajectory and the government’s roadmap for sustaining the state’s progress in the coming years.

Sharing details of the meeting, Sarma said he apprised the President of Assam’s journey as one of the country’s fastest-growing states and outlined the government’s plans to further accelerate development across key sectors.

“Honoured to call upon Mahamahim Rashtrapati Smt Droupadi Murmu ji today. An epitome of courage, resilience and leadership, meeting the Hon’ble President is always an inspiring experience and her words act as an encouragement in our path of public service,” the Chief Minister said in a social media post.

Sarma, who was sworn in for a second consecutive term as Chief Minister on May 12, said he sought the President’s blessings and guidance to continue the state’s journey of public welfare and development.

The meeting assumes significance as the Assam government continues to focus on infrastructure expansion, industrial growth, connectivity, healthcare, education and welfare initiatives aimed at accelerating economic transformation and improving public service delivery across the state.

During his visit to Rashtrapati Bhavan, the Chief Minister also toured Granth Kutir, which houses a rich collection of manuscripts and books in 11 classical Indian languages.

The repository showcases India’s diverse cultural, literary, philosophical and intellectual heritage.

The President’s Office shared photographs of the meeting and the Chief Minister’s visit to Granth Kutir on social media.

The interaction reflected the continued engagement between the Centre and the state on developmental priorities, with the Chief Minister reiterating Assam’s commitment to sustaining its growth momentum and achieving long-term development goals. (With inputs from PTI)
