Guwahati, Nov 03:Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday confirmed that the death of singer Zubeen Garg was a case of murder and not an accident. The statement marks a turning point in one of the most followed investigations in the state.
The Chief Minister said the Special Investigation Team probing the case is preparing to file its chargesheet after receiving clearance from the Ministry of Home Affairs. He has advanced the submission date to December 8, earlier than the initial target of December 17.
“Today, I am not saying Zubeen’s accident, I am saying Zubeen’s murder,” Sarma told reporters. “We are fully prepared from every angle. The SIT will send its request to the MHA within the next few days, and we expect the chargesheet to be ready between December 7 and 10.”
Sarma said he met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi to ensure the approval process moves quickly. His remarks indicate that the investigation has entered its final stage.
Zubeen Garg’s death during a yacht trip in Singapore earlier this year continues to evoke strong emotions across Assam. Fans and citizens have been demanding justice, and the Chief Minister’s statement has reinforced the belief that the truth behind the singer’s death is close to being revealed.
