JORHAT, Aug 16: Chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday dedicated the much-awaited rail overbridge at Na Ali here, the first overbridge in Jorhat, to the people here.

It may be mentioned that the foundation stone of the project was laid by then chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on September 30, 2018 in the presence of then PWD minister and current chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Jorhat MLA Hitendra Nath Goswami, who was the Speaker of State Assembly.

The rail overbridge was a longstanding demand of local people and organisations to ease traffic congestion on the busy road.

CM Sarma after the inauguration of the ROB, launched and laid the bases of a series of projects in the district worth over Rs 300 crore. Among them were 60 drinking water supply schemes under Jal Jeevan Mission, spread over five Assembly constituencies in Jorhat district, to benefit 12,500 families.
