GUWAHATI, Oct 13: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday chaired a meeting to review preparations for supplying rice, sugar, and salt to the public at subsidised rates.
‘A strong support for Assam’s aspirational class. Chaired an important meeting to review preparations regarding distribution of subsidised dal, sugar and salt in PDS outlets from November 1,’ Sarma said in a post on X.
The meeting also reviewed the implementation of the government’s decision to provide Rs 250 per LPG cylinder purchase to ‘Orunodoi’ beneficiary families from January 2026.
The third edition of the ‘Orunodoi’ scheme was launched on October 7, 2024, to ensure continued financial assistance and further strengthen the delivery of welfare benefits to eligible households of the state, officials said.
A dedicated ‘Orunodoi’ helpdesk with a toll-free number has also been made operational for people to register and seek redressal of grievances related to the scheme, according to an official release. (PTI)
