Kaliabor, April 20: In the wake of Friday’s polling in Kaliabor region under Kaziranga Lok Sabha constituency, several violations of the model code of conduct have been reported, prompting concerns about the integrity of the electoral process.
It has been reported that at numerous polling booths, election regulations have been breached, casting doubts on the fairness of the voting exercise.
Among the observed violations, instances of unauthorised photography inside polling stations have emerged as a significant issue.
In one severe incident, images of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines were secretly taken using mobile cameras within polling stations, with the pictures later being circulated on social media platforms.
Furthermore, an alarming violation took place when an election officer, responsible for maintaining the sanctity of the voting process, broke protocols by photographing a specific individual casting their vote within the polling station.
