GUWAHATI, Nov 5: Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria graced the North East Cycling Awards 2023 held at a prominent city hotel organised by “Paddle for Change,” a non-governmental organization. The event celebrated and recognized individuals and organizations dedicated to promoting cycling in the North East region with a key focus on combating climate change.
Governor Kataria commended “Paddle for Change” for their efforts and emphasized the pivotal role of cycling in individual health and the national economy. He highlighted the substantial impact of cycling in preserving the environment, stressing the collective responsibility in climate preservation.
Expressing admiration for the government’s initiative providing bicycles to female students, the Governor hailed the program for not only enhancing access to education but also fostering inclusivity by breaking down barriers in learning.
Furthermore, Governor Kataria underscored the significance of adopting public transport over private vehicles, citing its potential to bring about positive societal changes.
The event was graced by the presence of forest minister Parimal Suklabaidya, CEO of Pratidin Groups Rishi Baruah, and several other esteemed dignitaries.
The ceremony was a tribute to the commitment and advocacy for cycling as a solution to climate change and a step towards a greener, healthier future.
