GUWAHATI, March 31: Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya attended the SPIC MACAY Classical Series 2025 at Cotton University today. The event was graced by renowned flautist Padma Vibhushan Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia and organized by SPIC MACAY, a society dedicated to promoting Indian classical music and culture among the youth.
Governor Acharya praised Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia for his pivotal role in enriching India’s rich cultural heritage globally. He emphasized that India’s unique culture and heritage are recognized worldwide, with art, music, dance, and musical instruments being true reflections of the nation’s identity. The Governor highlighted music’s ability to transcend linguistic and religious barriers, strengthening India’s unity.
Acharya lauded SPIC MACAY for its efforts in preserving India’s cultural heritage, including classical music, art, literature, and folk culture. The organisation has inspired millions of young minds, introducing them to India’s rich cultural traditions and encouraging them to take leadership roles and serve the nation.
The Governor also praised Kiran Seth, the founder of SPIC MACAY, and his team for their dedication to preserving cultural heritage and instilling love for classical music among the people.
The Governor hailed SPIC MACAY’s noble pledge to ensure every student in the country experiences Indian music and art by 2030. This initiative aims to promote cultural awareness and appreciation among the younger generation.
The program was attended by VC Cotton University Prof Ramesh Deka, President of SPIC MACAY Guwahati Chapter Mausumi Barua, and other esteemed dignitaries.
