GUWAHATI, April 8: As a part of many of the initiatives that are being taken for the improvement of academic and infrastructural facilities of the newly established universities in the state, Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi on Friday visited Bhattadev University, Bajali and held a series of meetings with the vice-chancellor, faculty members, students and administrative staff of the university.
It may be noted that Bhattadev University is a public state university established by upgrading Bajali College under Assam Act No. XXXVI of 2017.
Governor Prof Mukhi who is also the chancellor of the university took stock of academic and administrative facilities of the university and its future plan of expansion. He took stock of the issues that the university is confronting with and assured the management to take steps from the Governor’s secretariat to resolve them. He also discussed the course of studies that Bhattadev University is catering to. Moreover, on the research front, Governor Prof Mukhi asked the university authority to push for cutting edge research to empower the university to act against social evils and contribute to nation building.
The Governor during the meeting said that Bhattadev University which is an important centre of higher education in Lower Assam needs to live up to the expectation of the people. It should through its academic performances cater to needs of higher education in the area.
In view of National Education Policy 2020 and its vision of New Education System for the country, Bhattadev University needs to reorient itself and give a relook to its curriculum to impart its education in line with the spirit of the NEP 2020. The Governor also held a meeting with the students’ union of the university to take a look at the concerns of the students.
