Guwahati, Sept 8: Governor Prof. Mukhi said, “National Education Policy NEP 2020 is the first education policy of the twenty-first century announced on 29th July 2020, which leads the way for transformational reforms for qualitative and quantitative development of the human resources of the country”.

Speaking at a day-long conference on ‘Implementation of NEP 2020 in Assam as a follow-up of Varanasi Conclave’ at Assam Administrative Staff College here on Thursday, the Governor said that NEP 2020 has become a white paper on country’s education and the Government’s intention as to how it wants to bring about the development of the country based on the education from primary to higher education.

The Governor also said that Education is the foundation of a society which plays a pivotal role in building a nation and transforming its future. He also said that an education policy is also a statement of the Government as to how it wants to develop the huge human resources depending on education.

Speaking on the occasion chief minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that the State Government will set up a State Research Foundation in line with National Research Foundation as envisaged in NEP-2020.
