GUWAHATI, Nov 19: Assam is set for an early examination season next year, with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announcing that the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Examination and the Higher Secondary (HS) Final Examination for 2026 will be conducted in February. The update, shared on his X handle on May 19, quickly drew attention from students and parents tracking academic schedules.
According to the announcement, the HSLC Examination 2026 will start on February 10, marking the beginning of Assam’s Class 10 board assessments. A day later, on February 11, the HS Final Examination 2026 will begin for all three streams—Arts, Science and Commerce—setting the timeline for Class 12 students across the state.
The Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB) will oversee both examinations, signalling a uniform evaluation schedule under the newly formed board. With the dates declared well in advance, students now have a clearer roadmap for preparation as academic discussions and exam-related searches trend across the state.
The announcement has also sparked online buzz as educators expect an early exam cycle to streamline timely admissions and reduce academic delays.
