Assam: Medical awareness meeting and free medical camp held

MARGHERITA, Dec 8: A medical awareness meeting and free medical camp was successfully organised at Lama Gaon Primary School under Margherita Co-District on Sunday under the Collective Responsibility Scheme of Oil Corporation of India (Assam Oil Division) Digboi, in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society Margherita Branch.

The event commenced with an awareness meeting chaired by Dilip Das, the village pradhan of Lamagaon. Pabitra Borgohain secretary of Indian Red Cross Society Margherita branch delivered the welcome speech and outlined the objectives of the camp.

The medical camp was attended by a team of senior doctors from Oil Corporation of India (Assam Oil Division) Digboi Hospital, including Dr Bhuti Ranjan Bhatnagar, Dr Sthalekha Karmakar, Dr Rahul Goswami, Dr Rituraj Kaushik, Dr Hashid German and Rotary Club doctor Dr Mirza Shaiki. 

The camp provided free medical treatment and medicines to the people of the area who were largely affected by poverty.

Many dignitaries including Indian Red Cross Society vice president Pradeep Das, retired bank officer Paran Jyoti Bhuyan, All Assam Bhojpuri Parishad Central Committee president Kailash Kumar Gupta, Green Project (Rotary Club) Digboi Directors Arup Goswami and Shantanu Roy also attended the camp.

The event was a significant step towards addressing the healthcare needs of the rural population who are often plagued by various health issues due to lack of access to quality medical care.
