Guwahati, Dec 02: Assam moved toward a ₹300 per cooking gas target after Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced a new subsidy plan on X. The State Government confirmed that Orunodoi families and PM Ujjwala beneficiaries will soon receive a ₹250 subsidy per cylinder.
The move aims to cut household fuel expenses for lakhs of families across the state. The Chief Minister said the plan was designed to bring down retail rates and push the cylinder price to the ₹300 mark once the scheme takes effect.
The government is preparing the disbursal process, with departments coordinating beneficiary lists and payment flow. Officials said the measure will function as a direct subsidy routed through existing welfare channels.
