Assam Nagarik Manch urges Ranoj Pegu to reschedule HS 1st year final examination dates

HOJAI, April 23: Assam Nagarik Manch through an application to Ranoj Pegu, minister of Education, government of Assam have urged to exclude May 9 from the scheduled date of final examination of HS 1st year as every year May 9 is celebrated as red-letter day. As per the Bijoy Chakraborty, general secretary of Assam Nagarik Monch, “On May 9, the composer of Indian national song ‘Jana-Gana-Mana’ the icon of Indian literacy Viswa Kabi Rabindranath Tagore was born in Calcutta (now Kolkata).” “He is the first Nobel Prize winner in Asia. Till the day, he is the heart throb in the world of Indian literacy. His birthday is known as the day of Rabindra Jayanti in India and Bangladesh,” Chakraborty added. He further said, “This day is largely celebrated in most of the schools and colleges where Bengali speaking students are part and parcel of the Institutions and widely celebrated by various socio-cultural organisations in Assam as well.”
Chakraborty said through the forwarded application to the minister of Education we have requested him to reschedule the date of final examination of H.S. first year in honour of Viswa Kabi Rabindranath Tagore.
