Assam Nepali Sahitya Sabha president receives commemorative coin

BISWANATH CHARIALI, Nov 5: Dr Chinta Mani Sharma, president of the Assam Nepali Sahitya Sabha, received the commemorative coin of Bharat Ratna Dr Bhupen Hazarika during the observance of his death anniversary held at Kamalakanta Natya Samaj in Biswanath.

The event was organised by the Biswanath District Administration as part of the state’s year-long centenary celebrations of the legendary music icon.

The commemorative coin, issued in memory of Dr Hazarika, was presented to Dr Sharma by Cabinet minister and Biswanath guardian minister Ashok Singhal, who attended the programme as chief guest. Dr Sharma, who is an expert committee member for the centenary celebrations, was honoured for his contribution to promoting Nepali literature and culture in Assam.
