Biswanath Chariali, Nov 27: In continuance of its concerted effort to promote sports activities among locals, Lokra Battalion under the aegis of 21 Sector Assam Rifles of Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) and in collaboration with Tezpur District Sports Association, distributed sports items to North East Sports Foundation, Tezpur on Sunday, stated a press release.
The team will be representing Assam State in the upcoming Sentinel Football Tournament, which will be organised by Assam Rifles from November 30 to December 10 this year in Dimapur and Shillong. The tournament is being conducted between selected teams of North East including one team from each State.

The aim of the event is to promote sports among the youth and bring these talented players into the mainstream by giving them ample opportunity to showcase their talents. The locals have expressed their gratitude to Assam Rifles for organising such events and giving exposure to the locals for participation in sports competitions.
