DEMOW, April 16: Along with the rest of the state, Rongali Bihu was celebrated in Demow and its adjoining areas with pomp and gaiety on April 14 and April 15. On the day of ‘Goru Bihu’, people washed their cattle and performed their traditional rituals. On April 15, ‘Manuh Bihu’ was celebrated and people were seen wearing new clothes and seeking blessings from their elders. The ‘Pohela Boishakh’ for the Bengali Community was also celebrated on April 15 where people sought blessings from their elders and performed Ganesh Puja. Under the patronage of Demow Tai Ahom Students Union and former ATASU leaders and in association with the people of Demow, the 6th Annual Mukoli Bihu 2022 was organised in Demow Public Playground on April 15. In the programme, an egg fight was held and the ‘Husori’ was performed by different teams. Artists performed songs in the ‘Mukoli Bihu’ programme. On the other hand, under the patronage of Athabari Yuba Samaj in association with the people of Athabari, the ‘Mukoli Bihu’ programme was organised in Athabari Karmachari Binudan Kendra premises on April 15. In the programme, artists performed songs during the cultural night to enthral the audience.
