Assam Science Society hosts workshop for Biswanath Chariali students

BISWANATH CHARIALI, July 12: A three-day workshop on mathematics organised by the Biswanath Chariali branch of Assam Science Society for students of classes 6, 7, and 8 at Assam Adarsha Vidyalaya, Borpam, commenced on Friday. The inaugural session of the workshop was chaired by Dr Pradeep Kr Mahanta, president of the Biswanath Chariali branch of Assam Science Society. Nripen Bordoloi, director of Assam Adarsha Vidyalaya, Borpam, delivered a welcome address facilitated by Barnali Kurmi. Dr Sanjib Upadhyaya, secretary of the Biswanath Chariali branch of Assam Science Society, outlined the workshop’s objectives.

Mafij Ali, education officer of Monai-Jaisiddhi education block, expressed satisfaction at organising this much-needed workshop for students from the southern part of Sootea. Expert teachers such as Ripunjay Bordoloi, Science teacher of Chengamari HS; Sanjib Gogoi, mathematics teacher of Dolonguri HSS; Durga Nepal, retired subject teacher of Madhya Chhaiduar HSS; Bhaben Nath, mathematics teacher of Monai-Jaisiddhi HS; and Pran Ballav Bora, science teacher of Balidonga HS, attended the workshop. Rupi Das will impart training on vedic maths. A total of 150 students from Dolongguri HSS, Monai-Jaisiddhi HS, Chengamari HS, Diplong ME School, Dekorai HSS, and Assam Adarsha Vidyalaya, Borpam, participated in the workshop.

The workshop aims to alleviate students’ apprehensions about mathematics. The initiative by the Biswanath Chariali branch of Assam Science Society has been well-received by the community. The workshop is scheduled to conclude on July 14.
