Assam Women’s University faculty to teach Assamese in MP colleges

GUWAHATI, Jan 29: Two faculty members from Assam Women’s University, Jorhat, have been selected as subject experts to conduct a Certificate Course in Assamese Language for colleges in Madhya Pradesh, with special focus on SGS Government Autonomous PG College, Sidhi.

The initiative follows directives from the Directorate of Higher Education, Government of Madhya Pradesh. The notification was formally released by the Office of the Principal on January 28, 2026.

A committee comprising senior academicians and subject experts from Madhya Pradesh and Assam has been constituted to oversee the course. Prof Shrikant Mishra, Professor and Head of the Department of Philosophy, Awadhesh Pratap Singh University, Rewa, is a member, while Dr Prabhakar Singh, Principal of the Pradhan Mantri College of Excellence, serves as Coordinator.

The Assam Women’s University faculty members appointed as Subject Experts are Dr Bijoy Gogoi (Department of Political Science) and Dr Prashanta Puzari (Department of English). Their inclusion underscores inter-state academic cooperation and the promotion of linguistic diversity.

Officials said the programme reflects Madhya Pradesh’s commitment to multilingual education and cross-regional collaboration, aiming to enrich students’ knowledge of Assamese language and culture.
