Guwahati, May 20: In a momentous achievement for Indian sports, Rodali Barua from Assam clinched the bronze medal at the Asian Taekwondo Championships, marking the end of India’s decade-long wait for a medal in the tournament.
Competing in the women’s 73-kilogram category, Barua’s victory is a significant milestone for Indian Taekwondo. Assam’s education minister, Ranoj Pegu, expressed his pride on X, stating, “Proud moment for 1.4 billion Indians as Assam’s daughter Rodali Barua ends the nation’s 10-year medal drought at Asian Taekwondo Championships by clinching Bronze medal in Women’s 73 kg category.”
Rodali Barua’s accomplishment stands out as she is the first Indian to secure a medal at the Asian Taekwondo Championships in Kyorugi. This achievement highlights her exceptional talent and dedication to the sport.
