SIVASAGAR, Sept 13: Demow police have arrested six members of a gang of ATM looters from different parts of the state. The notorious gang had on September 6 broke open the SBI ATM at Demow Chariali and the PNB ATM at Nitai Ali and decamped with all the cash. The police team led by addl SP, Sivasagar Daizy Gogoi, and Kulendu Kumar Huzuri, OC, Demow PS, promptly conducted a thorough investigation and by following mobile location and CCTV footage, they arrested the mastermind of the gang Tarfur Ali (39) from Hajo Khaniadi gaon; Abul Ahmed (35) from Hatikhuk, Sivasagar; Amirul Islam (38) of Dhing Gayen gaon; Abdul Satar (28) of Moirabari Tantipathar; Attaur Rahman (30) of Moirabari Dharabandi and Irakhfanul Hussain (30) of Dhing Sutargaon. They were brought to Demow PS  with the help of Moirabari PS and were charged under relevant IPC clauses. It has been suspected that the same gang had earlier looted the SBI ATM in 2019 and took away the entire cash.
