ATTSA Stages Protest At Bokajan

BOKAJAN, April 8: The Assam Tea Tribe Students Association (ATTSA) staged a protest dharna in front of the office of SDO (C), Bokajan demanding fulfilment of their demands.

The protest was attended by the president of ATTSA, Bokajan Regional Committee (BRC), Rakesh Mahanando and secretary, Pintu Mahanando participated. President Rakesh said that the community has been side-lined by both the state of Assam and Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC). The tribe is deprived of facilities like welfare schemes, schools and PF for those working in tea gardens.

“If the tribe is deprived of facilities then we will carry out a protest movement in the days to come. I request that our demands be fulfilled,” said president of ATTSA, BRC, Rakesh.

“Assam CM Go Back” and “KAAC CEM Go Back” slogans were raised at the protest. Later a memorandum was submitted to the SDO (C), Bokajan stating their demands.
