Awareness meeting held on ‘Legal Aspects of Reporting’ by DLSA

MORIGAON, Aug 25: An awareness programme on ‘Legal Aspects of Reporting’ was organised by the District Legal Services Authority, Morigaon at Kalabithika Bhawan, Morigaon on Wednesday. With an aim to provide basic knowledge on legal aspects of reporting to the journalists, the DLSA organised the awareness meeting. The secretary of DLSA, Morigaon S.F.A. Zinnat, AJS inaugurated the legal awareness programme by delivering a speech in presence of senior advocate Niranjan Barua; senior journalists of The Assam Tribune Dalim Phukan, Pratap Hazarika from Niyomia Barta and the president of MDJA, Birinchi Sarma.

She said, “The free legal advice and aid is given to people of all categories whose annual income is below Rs 3 lakh and to SC, ST, women, children, people of weaker sections, people with unsound mind, victims of communal violence, religious atrocities, floods, famine and earthquake.”

Besides senior advocate Niranjan Barua, senior journalists Dalim Phukan, Pratap Hazarika and Birinchi Sarma spoke on the topic at length in the programme.

Earlier DLSA’s employee Pankaj Kr. Nath conducted the introductory session of the programme.
The secretary of DLSA S.F.A. Zinnat interacted with the media persons on various dos & don’ts while investigating & crime reporting in the field. More than 100 media persons took part in the awareness programme.
