DIPHU, May 3: The National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disability in association with Tarabati Development Foundation organised an awareness programme for the rights of persons with disabilities on April 30 last, at Denkimo Apam, Cultural Hall Loringthepi.
The Tarabati Development Foundation organised a Training Programme for the disabled so that they can earn their livelihood with dignity. The occasion was graced by MLA Dorsing Ronghang and his wife Sabina Teronpi, a social worker and the patron of the programme and executive member, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, District Social Welfare, Kache Rongpipi; Member of Autonomous Council, Seema Ronghangpi and District Social Welfare officer, Helen Terangpi and CPM leader Broken Rongphar. Chairman, Tarabati Development Foundation, Endry Phangcho said disabled persons should get to live a dignified life.
He informed that the government of India is implementing various schemes for the disabled, but in order to avail of the benefits, the person should be registered with the District Social Welfare department. Certificates were distributed to those who have taken the training.
MLA Darsing Ronghang thanked the organiser for the awareness programme.
