BISWANATH CHARIALI, March 20: An awareness programme on ‘Combating Wildlife Crime through Awareness’ organised by Aaranyak, an environment friendly organisation in association with Tiger Project of Kaziranga National Park (KNP), Biswanath police administration, Village Defence Party (VDP) and supported by Upatyaka was held at Dr Jakir Hussain MES, Aadaveti, Sootea on March 19.
The awareness programme was held with Soiyad Ali in the chair while Sanjib Bezbarua explained the objectives. Addressing the programme as a chief guest Biswanath SP Navin Singh spoke on the importance and significance of the topic and appealed all concerned to join hands towards protection and preservation of wildlife. He further explained some legal provisions which will imposed on poachers and violators of wildlife laws. The awareness programme was attended by Khagesh Pegu, DFO of Biswanath Wildlife Division, Shyamal Jyoti Saikia, officer-in-charge of Sootea PS, Jatin Mohan Das, Goutam Mahanta, Kandarpa Hazarika besides other dignitaries.
