Baresohoriya Bhaona Panel Convenes Public Meeting

BISWANATH CHARIALI, Feb 19: As the date of historic Baresohoriya bhaona festival comes closer, enthusiasm and excitement grip the hearts of the organizers of the bhaona-celebration committee. Notably, the 226th bhaona festival is scheduled to be held at the historic Pokamura Pothar on March 6 to 9.

In this connection, the bhaona celebration committee convened a public meeting at the Inspection Bungalow, Jamugurihat with Bhaba Goswami, working president of the celebration committee on the chair on Sunday. The president of the bhaona celebration committee, MLA Padma Hazarika, addressed the office bearers of 27 sub-committees of the bhaona celebration committee and the general public.

He gave a brief description of overall progress till the date and reminded about the works to be completed within short. Hazarika further informed that Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, union ministers Sarbananda Sonowal and Dharmendra Pradhan besides other dignitaries will attend the mega event. He added that the Baresohoriya bhaona committee has opened a public account bearing account number 341042010008232 with IFSC code HDFCOCACABL . Interested persons can contribute any amount into the number for the upcoming bhaona festival. The public meeting was also addressed by the Tezpur HPC MP Pallab Lochan Das.

The construction work for the bhaona exhibition is underway. There will be 21 ‘kholas’ wherein 42 bhaonas will be performed in two days.
