Barim Engti elected as president of Assam Sahitya Sabha

BOKAJAN, Dec 12: Barim Engti has been elected as the president of Assam Sahitya Sabha (ASS), Karbi Anglong on Thursday.

He will lead the ASS, Karbi Anglong for a three-year term from 2025 to 2027.

The election which leads the Karbi Anglong branch of the ASS, a respected literary body, was held in the office in Bokajan.

Four persons, namely Barim Engti, Munimanta Saikia, Anil Hazarika and Horeswar Bora filed nominations for the president, vice president and secretary. The papers of Horeswar Bora were rejected.

The ASS Election Officers, Sunil Gogoi and Parmanand Talukder who announced the election results in a press conference here said that Munimanta Saikia was elected to the post of vice president and Anil Hazarika won the post of Secretary.

Appointments for the rest of the body will be made later.

Following the results, members of ASS, Karbi Anglong congratulated by the trio- Barim Engti, Munimanta Saikia and Anil Hazarika for their win.
