GUWAHATI, Nov 4: The 13th death anniversary of Bhupen Hazarika was marked with an exceptional programme- a discussion at Chandannagar in Jorhat on Monday.
The discussion was held at the courtyard of Ranjan Kumar Dutta and Jyoti Rekha Dutta, well-known names for the culture lovers of Assam creating an emotional atmosphere. The fair started with a lantern lighting ceremony in front of the portrait of Sudhakantha. The discussion was participated by Akhil Chakraborty, a popular singer, playwright and novelist, who launched a book on the life and works of Sudhakanth by Ranjan Kumar Dutta.
A modern Bengali song recorded ” Amar Sureri Alkananda” was inaugurated by popular artist Kukila Goswami during the programme. The song is composed by Ranjan Kumar Dutta and Rajumoni Saikia.
The programme was attended by artistes Sandhya Devi, Minu Barua, Mamata Barthakur, Kokila Goswami, Ila Dutta, Rinjumani Barua, Hemanta Kumar Nath, Pankajjyoti Barua, Pranati Barua, Popi Barua Tagore, Niku Sharma, Pallavika Goswami, Susmita Barthakur and Jyomi Baruah, Mamata Chakraborty, Gaurishankar Baruah revived the moments with songs and lecture.
Jita Baruah and Rita Dutta recited poems of the Sudhakantha. Other participants Antara Saikia, Swapnil Dutta, Ragini Sarma and Jashika Saikia performed songs during the discussion. Orchid Boy Sameer Roy planted orchids in the names of Sudhakantha and Lata Mangeshkar and Ranjan Kumar Dutta in honor of their contributions to the society. The event was recorded by Snigdhashikha, senior journalist of satellite channel DY 365 and Darshana Barthakur, journalist of Aakakhbani. Viewers would be able to watch the programme which will be telecast on November 4 at 8 pm.
