DIPHU/ MORIGAON, April 8: Final rehearsal of Bihu dance by Bihu dancer to demonstrate in front of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 14 at Sarusajai Stadium, Guwahati, was done at Diphu Govt. Boys HS school playground here on Saturday. A total of 75 Bihu dancers have taken part in the final rehearsal on Saturday. The Karbi Anglong district administration and cultural affairs department has taken the initiative for the rehearsal of Bihu dance.
The government of Assam has organised the mega Bihu dance demonstration on April 14 in front of Prime Minister Modi with the aim to find place in the Guinness Book of World Records with highest number of Bihu dancers.
From West Karbi Anglong there will be 50 Bihu dancers to demonstrate in the mega show. A total of 125 Bihu dancers from both Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong will participate in the mega show.
Witnessing the final rehearsal the chief executive member (CEM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang said it is the initiative of chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to take Bihu dance to the global level. On April 14 the mega Bihu dance will be demonstrated in front of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati. A total of 125 Bihu dancers from both Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong will go to participate in the mega show.
There is reimbursement from the state government for to and fro journey to Guwahati, but the KAAC is also giving Rs 2000 to each dancer from Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong, the CEM said.
The CEM also said that the State government has given a target to take 5000 spectators from Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong for April 14 at Sarusajai stadium and is preparing for it.
One of the leaders to lead the Bihu troupe Sanju Borah, also a journalist said, “From Karbi Anglong there are 75 Bihu dancers to participate in the mega show. On April 10 we will be leaving for Guwahati and on April 11 and 12 is the joint rehearsal with all Bihu dancers across the state at Sarusajai and on April 14 will be demonstrating before Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
Deputy commissioner Madhumita Bhagawati and MLA Bidyasing Engleng witnessed the final rehearsal.
From the district administration Amrit Das, ACS; Kilunteule Jeme, ACS and Aradhana Das, ACS will accompany the team.
There are 12 master trainers giving rehearsal to Bihu dancers. There will be a medical team and security personnel to accompany the team.
On The other hand, Morigaon district administration has selected 200 pairs of drummers and dancers from the district to send them to take part in a  Bihu performance programme to be held on April 14 in Guwahati. The programme where more than 10,000 bihu dancers and drummers will perform Bihu will be an attempt by the state government to secure a place in Guinness Book of World Records.
The Morigaon district administration on Saturday organised a Bihu programme for welcoming the 200 pairs of drummer and dancer who were selected to participate in the programme at Morigaon Tarunram ground.
The beautiful Bihu programme was formally inaugurated by the minister of Public Health Engineering department Jayanta Malla Barua at Morigaon Tarunram field. Morigaon deputy commissioner Devashis Sarma delivered the welcome address in the programme. MLA Ramakanta Deuri, superintendent of police Hemanta Kr Das, ADC Garga Muhan Das attended the programme.
