Biswanath reviews preparedness for AES-JE management

BISWANATH CHARIALI, May 14: A district coordination meeting on preparedness for management of Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) and Japanese Encephalitis (JE) cases was held at Biswanath on Wednesday in the presence of Amrit Prabha Das.

The meeting focused on strengthening preparedness, awareness, prevention measures and interdepartmental coordination for effective management of AES and JE cases in the district.

During the meeting, officials highlighted that June and July are considered peak months for the rise in AES-JE cases in Biswanath district.

Discussions were held with various line departments regarding preventive measures, awareness activities and coordinated response mechanisms to tackle possible outbreaks.

The meeting also discussed the Inter-Sectoral Coordination Meeting on Dog Bite and Rabies Prevention to strengthen preventive and control measures related to rabies cases in the district.

Among those present were Joint DHS officials, the CMHO (CD)-cum-DMO, DIO, SDM&HOs, Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent, DSWO and representatives from the Education, Veterinary, Forest, PHED and Tea Plantation departments.

Officials from NVBDCP, IDSP, MIP-Tezpur and district health teams also attended the meeting.

The ongoing HPV vaccination programme in the district was also reviewed during the discussion.
