GUWAHATI, May 25 (PTI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi Thursday said the youth in the Northeast are joining the mainstream of development due to the policies of the BJP government.

The BJP government policies are “committed to fulfil people’s aspirations” and employment opportunities are being created by the BJP government in diverse sectors, he said in a video message for a ceremony to distribute appointment letters here.

“Because of the BJP government’s policies, youths are coming back to the mainstream of development in the North East. BJP is committed to fulfil the aspirations of the youths. We are also taking rapid steps towards building a new India,” he said.

“Assam is witnessing a new era of peace and development and this pace of development has spread positivity and inspiration in the state,” he said and congratulated the state government for providing a large number of jobs to the youths.

The prime minister in his message said the society is fast becoming aspirational and the government system must change according to the people’s aspirations as fulfilling public wishes is a duty of the state mechanism. “Nobody wants to wait for development. People want fast results.”

He asked the appointees to move forward with the same dedication that brought them to the level of securing government jobs and said they can contribute in improving the society and the system by being open to learning new things. Youths are progressing in diverse fields that were not possible in the past.

“India is modernising its infrastructure. New highways, expressways, airports, ports and waterways are being built. Lakhs of crores of rupees are being spent on developing these,” Modi said adding employment and self-employment opportunities are getting a boost in every sector with every new infrastructure project.

The ‘Rozgar Mela’ programme is a reflection of the seriousness towards the future of the youth in Assam, he said.

Many recruitments could not be completed on time due to the earlier processes, in which each department had different rules and candidates had to appear for examinations for different departments. These processes have now been made very easy, he added.

The prime minister launched the Rozgar Mela scheme in October 2022 and the Centre is in ‘mission mode’ to fill up job vacancies across its various ministries. The recruitments are being done through recruiting agencies like UPSC, SSC and the Railway Recruitment Board.
