Rozgar Mela is a celebration of hope and new beginnings: Pabitra Margherita

Young achievers across NE gathered to mark the milestone

GUWAHATI, Oct 29: The Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Textile Pabitra Margherita addressed the gathering at Rozgar Mela 2024 held on Tuesday celebrating the new beginnings for thousands of young aspirants and underscoring the government’s commitment to a prosperous, self-reliant India.

“Today is not just an event,” the minister said, ”it is a celebration of hope, new beginnings, and limitless possibilities. This is a day where dreams take flight, and the future of our youth shines even brighter.”

He highlighted how the Rozgar Mela reflects the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whose pursuit of Atmanirbhar Bharat fuels India’s growth journey.

As part of this initiative, over 51,000 appointment letters were distributed nationwide, placing young individuals in diverse roles across various ministries and departments. ”This is a promise made by our Honorable Prime Minister to ensure no one is left behind on our journey toward a developed and prosperous India,” the minister said.

In Meghalaya, 207 appointed letters were distributed among the aspirants, of which 191 are from the department of post, 15 from the Railways, and 1 from NIT Meghalaya.

In Shillong, young achievers from Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram, Tripura, and Assam gathered to mark this milestone, showcasing the government’s dedication to reaching every corner of India, including the vibrant and resource-rich Northeast.

Exhorting the youth for dedication in their service, the minister said, ”This day is not about statistics, it is about you. You are ambassadors of our government’s vision for India. Your integrity, dedication, and commitment will be the foundation of our nation’s growth, our motherland India’s growth,” he said.

In a message to the candidates and their families, the minister extended his warmest congratulations, calling the occasion a proud moment for the nation. He encouraged all to work together to build a future that is prosperous, inclusive, and full of opportunity for every Indian.

Speaking to the Pressmen after the event, Margherita termed the Rozgar Mela an incredible event organised across 40 different locations in India, including right here in Meghalaya.

“I am proud to see hundreds of successful youth gathered, eager to embrace their new roles. It fills me with joy to witness candidates expressing appreciation for the government’s efforts”, he added.

He further stated, “This event is truly unprecedented, with over 51,000 appointment letters being distributed to our successful youth. I must say our youths are so empowered today listening to the honourable Prime Minister, who addressed the youth and guardians, that we are all contributors to nation-building. He also commended our youth and stakeholders in government for their commitment to advancing towards a Viksit Bharat”.

The minister expressed his gratitude for this remarkable achievement as he said, “Not just as a minister but as a citizen of India, I take great pride in witnessing this progress in New India, as we march towards the path of prosperity.”

With Rozgar Mela 2024, the government reiterates its promise to support, guide, and equip India’s youth with skills and training, building a workforce ready to serve the country with dedication and integrity.

Earlier, PM Narendra Modi addressed the Rozgar Mela and distributed more than 51,000 appointment letters to newly appointed youth in government departments and organisations via videoconferencing.

Addressing the occasion, the Prime Minister noted the auspicious occasion of Dhanteras and conveyed his best wishes on the occasion.

Underlining that this year’s Diwali would be a special one, the Prime Minister said that it is the first Diwali since Lord Shri Ram has been seated in his magnificent temple in Ayodhya after 500 years.

He said that several generations have waited for this Diwali, while many have sacrificed their lives for it or faced adversities. The Prime Minister emphasised that the present generation is extremely fortunate to witness and become a part of such celebrations.

In the atmosphere of festivity, said the Prime Minister, 51,000 youth are being handed out recruitment letters for government jobs. He congratulated the new recruits and conveyed his best wishes to them.

The Prime Minister highlighted that offering permanent government jobs to lakhs of youths has been a legacy which is continuously going on. He added that lakhs of youths were handed appointment letters even in the states being governed by BJP and NDA allies.

The Prime Minister reiterated the government’s commitment that the youth of the country should get maximum employment. Noting that the policies and decisions of the government have a direct impact on job creation, the Prime Minister highlighted the development of expressways, highways, roads, rail, ports, airports, laying of fibre cables, setting up of mobile towers and expansion of new industries in all parts of the country.
