BJP Mahila Morcha Grateful To PM For Women’s Bill

DIPHU, Sept 21: The East Karbi Anglong district branch of BJP Mahila Morcha on Thursday organized a ‘Thanks Giving Programme’ at the Diphu Club here to express their gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi for passing the women’s reservation bill by granting 33%  seat reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and legislative assemblies.

The Parliament on Wednesday passed the particular bill.

Speaking on the occasion, chief guest, Diphu MLA Bidyasing Engleng thanked Prime Minister Modi as it was under his leadership that the bill for women reservation was placed and unanimously passed in the Parliament.

MLA Engleng said, “Our Prime Minister Modi really understands women empowerment and gives due recognition to it. With the passing of the bill, women will now get 33% reservation of seats in the Lok Sabha and legislative assemblies. The Congress government has not done this when they were in power, but the present BJP government has done it. We need to thank our Prime Minister for giving priority to women.”

Former Member of Autonomous Council (MAC) and ex-president Mahila Morcha, BJP-EKADC, Seema Ronghangpi said, “I want to thank Prime Minister Modi for the positive attitude shown to women. With the passing of the bill women now more women can actively participate in politics.”

She said with the passing of bills in Parliament, the same should be done in the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) and in municipal boards. KAAC should take a decision for the reservation of 33 % seats for women.

The programme was presided over by Mahila Morcha BJP-EKADC, president Roshmi Teronpi and attended by Member of Autonomous Council (MACs), Kache Rongpipi and Kadom Terangpi, secretary, BJP Mahila Morcha, Assam Pradesh Newlyborn Teronpi and other leaders.
