BOKAJAN, Aug 7: In a continued effort to strengthen its presence in the hill districts of Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong, the ruling BJP, which holds power both in the state and the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), welcomed a fresh batch of political workers from opposition parties.
At a joining ceremony held at Hanjanglangso Pathu Aklam under Bokajan Legislative Assembly constituency, several workers from the All Party Hills Leaders Conference (APHLC) and the Congress formally joined the BJP.
Chief Executive Member of KAAC, Tuliram Ronghang, who attended the programme as chief guest, welcomed the new members into the party.
He also assured that the development of Sarupathar Member of Autonomous Council (MAC) constituency would be prioritised.
“All roads in the area will be repaired soon,” he said, adding that grievances in villages such as Sinasing Lekthe, Habe Timung, and Koi Terang would be addressed.
Also present at the event were Sarupathar BJP Mandal president Silarson Rongpi; MLAs Darsing Ronghang and Bidyasing Engleng; KAAC Executive Members Surjya Rongphar, Madhurya Dhekial Phukon, and Madhuram Lekthe; along with MAC members Kadom Terangpi and Shorbon Kumar Telenga.
