Bohagi Utsav Starts At Margherita

Margherita, May 12: The three days Bohagi Utsav of Margherita Businessmen Association started from Wednesday at Margherita town High School Playground. On the first day, the Bihu flag was hoisted by Margherita MLA Bhaskar Sharma followed by Smriti Tarpan conducted by noted social worker of Margherita, Nareswar Hazarika.

After MLA Bhaskar Sharma from his own expenditure inaugurated the idol of Chaolung Sukapha and under District Mineral Fund, an eco park was inaugurated by Rameswar Teli, Union minister of state for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Employment at Hill View, Margherita.

A souvenir titled ‘Chaolung Sukafa’ was unveiled by Margherita MLA Bhaskar Sharma which was edited by Pabitra Borgohain and Disen Tipomia.  

After that Union minister and Dibrugarh MP Rameswar Teli inaugurated the huge colourful procession where more than 50,000 people participated irrespective of caste, creed, race, language and religion participated in the procession, including Margherita MLA Bhaskar Sharma, famous Youtuber of Assam Dimpu Baruah, Bikash Chetry and other distinguished persons of Margherita participated in the colourful procession.

At night, duo noted singer of Assam Alankita Kalita and Rupankita Kalita enthralled the audience with their performance. All Assam Level Dehing Best Bihu Husori, Borbihuoti and Bihuoti competitions were also held.

On Thursday, Bohagi Utsav Group Bihu Dance, Mou Bihuoti and Jeng Bihu Competition were held.

On Friday, the Bohagi Utsav Open Session and prize distribution ceremony will be held. Dr Surojit Borkatoky, associate professor of Dibrugarh University shall be present as the chief guest.

After that, invited artist from Dhemaji ‘Central Hari Naamor Group’, renowned folk cultural troupe ‘Samonnoi Khetra’ from Guwahati and TV reality show Indian Idol winner Pawandeep Rajan, Zee TV Bangla Sa-Re-Ga-Ma-Pa runners up Shayam Paul and Gitali Kakoty will be performing on the last day of Bohagi Utsav.

Ranjit Borpujari, general secretary of Bohagi Utsav Reception Committee requested all people to attend the programme and make it a successful one.
