Ganesan said this during the commemoration of the Assam State Foundation Day at Raj Bhavan in Kohima on Monday.

He said Assam with its remarkable history and cultural depth has always held a special place in the hearts of the Nagas, adding both communities have interacted over centuries, fostering mutual respect and understanding.

“These interactions have laid the foundation for the bond of friendship and brotherhood that persists to this day,” Ganesan noted.

He also stressed that despite occasional differences, like any neighbouring states, the focus should remain on harmonious relations and shared prosperity.

He said the gathering on the occasion signifies the strong connection between Assam and Nagaland and highlights the Assamese community’s invaluable contribution to our shared heritage.

“Let this occasion remind us to continue advocating for stronger ties and a mutual appreciation that transcends geographical boundaries.”

“Let us celebrate not only Assam’s accomplishments but also the enduring bond between the people of Assam and Nagaland, and may this spirit of camaraderie and cooperation light our path toward a brighter future,” he added.

Ganesan said Assam, with its beautiful landscapes, diverse culture, and rich resources, serve as a crucial economic powerhouse for India.

“Its abundant tea gardens have not only placed India on the global map as a leading tea producer but have also become a symbol of our agricultural success. The oil and gas reserves in Assam further underscore its value in our country’s development, providing energy and economic strength,” he said.

Beyond economics, Ganesan said, Assam’s contribution to India’s cultural richness is incomparable and that its classical Sattriya dance, the vibrant Bihu festival and the traditional Assam silk reflect the diversity and beauty of our nation’s cultural fabric.

“Assam’s music, arts, and literature have enriched our country’s mosaic, providing us with stories and traditions that unite us in our diversity,” he added.

The celebration featured modern creative dance by Sanjana Bordoloi, Assamese song by Monika Gogoi, Bihu dance by Astha Gogoi, and Bodo group dance by Beauty Basumatary and friends.
